Mafalda is an engineer with a keen interest in stem cells and advanced in vitro systems. During her bachelor's project, she studied cellular aggregation as a virulence determinant in cystic fibrosis chronic infections caused by Burkholderia multivorans at the Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences, Instituto Superior Técnico. In 2024, Mafalda completed her master's studies with a project focused on the Generation and Characterization of Non-Myocyte Cells for Application in Bioengineered Cardiac Models. This project was developed at the Applied Stem Cell Technologies Group at the University of Twente, Netherlands. Currently, Mafalda Vicente is a PhD student at AccelBio, where she develops her studies in heart organoids.
