We are thrilled to announce the launch of the AccelBio Open Call, a competition aimed at accelerating biomedical innovation in Portugal. Our primary mission is to facilitate the successful transfer of scientific knowledge to the economy by fostering the development of products and businesses in drug discovery.
Objective: The AccelBio Open Call seeks to identify and support projects with the most promising prospects of transitioning from research into clinical product candidates. Our ultimate goal is to capitalize on the best Portuguese discoveries and transform them into innovative drug assets.
Focus Areas: We invite proposals from Portuguese public or non-profit legal entities, including universities, research centers, and hospitals. Eligible projects should have potential as pharmaceutical therapies, particularly in the following therapeutic areas:
- Oncology
- Neurosciences
- Infectious diseases
- Immunology
- Metabolism
- Cardiovascular
Support Offered: Selected projects will receive a financial award of up to 50,000€ to cover services and consumables. Additionally, we will provide assistance in preparing a comprehensive value creation plan. This plan, developed with the support of the AccelBio team, will have a duration of 18 months and will encompass a series of experiments necessary to drive a drug discovery project effectively to the pre-clinical candidate stage.
How to Apply: Interested parties are invited to submit proposals outlining their research activity and its potential to be developed into assets with clinical therapeutic potential.
Submission Deadline (Extended): The deadline for proposal submission is April 14th, 2024
