On October 26th, 2026, the BIO-RED Inter-Regional Final Pitch Session brought together the 14 regional finalists from across all the BIO-RED Cross-Regional Hackathons, who presented their business cases to an international jury with members from the seven BIO-RED regions. Ten of them have now been selected for the BIO-RED Biotech & Pharma Accelerator Programme.
We are particularly proud that one of the selected teams, OrganoSynch, includes our PhD student Mafalda Vicente, who took part in the hackathon in Ioannina, Greece, alongside colleagues from across Europe. Congratulations to Mafalda and to the whole team!
The ten selected business cases are TwinOrg, CMC Master, RegBridge, Municipal Health Data & AI Gateway, RESP O₂, ScaleEU, OrganoSynch, RareBridge, ATMP Bridge™, and Transla EU. Congratulations to all of them, and thank you to every team that presented at the final pitch session.
The programme will be delivered in two parts. The first focuses on business case development, with three online workshops on value proposition and team, commercial strategy and market access, and regulatory pathway and IP strategy, held between November 17th and December 2nd. Each team will also benefit from 15 hours of personalised mentoring from a lead mentor and specialised experts. The second part prepares teams for fundraising and investment readiness, through two additional workshops, two online sessions, and a Final Showcase Event in Portugal in the second half of 2027. Overall, the programme represents €9,000 worth of support per business case, helping teams strengthen their business cases, prepare to raise public and private funding from mid-2027 onwards, and connect with relevant experts, partners, and investors across the BIO-RED ecosystem.
As a BIO-RED partner, AccelBio helped organise the Portuguese hackathon at Biocant Park in September and took part in the Greek hackathon in October, so it is a pleasure to see the project’s hackathons lead to concrete next steps for so many teams.
